A donation of 11,000 approx. books related to the field of science, technology, engineering, medicine, social science and non-fiction etc. was received at the University on 2nd April, 2021. The donation was sent through shipment by Dr. Salahuddin Qazi under “Books for International Goodwill” (BIG) Programs Maryland, USA.
The Library facilitated through providing its Digital Library to Prof. Dr. Saad Ahmed Qazi, Dean, (ECE) for conducting training sessions on weekend during March – April, 2021 in collaboration with National Centre of Artificial Intelligence, (NCAI) .of the University.  

Digital Library of the Library arranged fourteen (14) training sessions for third year students during 31st March to 13th April 2021. Students of different teaching departments including Materials, Textile, Food, Telecom, CIS, Automotive, Humanities and Petroleum of the University attended the training sessions.

The purpose of the training was to increase awareness of e-resources available at the University Library. These trainings are part of the continuous efforts by the Library to enhance usage of e-resources in the students at undergraduate level.

The Library after signing an agreement with PASTIC, became the member of Consortium of Science & Technology and Research & Development Libraries of Pakistan (CSTRDLP). Being a member, the Library is now a part of PAK- CAT Union Catalogue of PASTIC which is a platform for resource sharing among the libraries nationwide. The Library has shared its bibliographical data with the Union Catalogue. Libraries of partner institution may also request other member libraries for  books through Inter Library Loan (ILL).
PEC scheduled OBA Based Re-accreditation visit for some Undergraduate Engineering Programs of the University on 21st – 22nd June, 2021. The Convener of visitation team of PEC visited the Library on 21st June, 2021. He was briefed about library services and facilities and informed about working of different library sections and information resources providing to students  

Multiple Training sessions were conducted at City Campus for Faculty of Architecture & Planning Department and at Digital Library Section of the Library for third & final year students of Architecture & Planning, Polymer & Petrochemical Engineering and Mathematics Departments for awareness of e-resources available through the Library webpage. The sessions were conducted by Mrs. Naveen Ali, ITM (JE) during 2nd to 13th July, 2021.

Two visitation teams of PEC visited the Library on 21st June and 1st July, 2021 respectively and visited various sections of the Library. The delegation were briefed about the Library services and facilities and information resources available in the Library.

 
A donation of 37 books related to the children literature received from various individuals and organizations were handed over to the Principal, Cowasjee School, NEDUET on 16th July, 2021 for their School Library.  

The Library extended and upgraded its online services to the Library Patrons.

  • Email alerts, reminders and notices reminding due date of borrowed books from Circulation Section for renewal and/or overdue charges have now been extended to undergraduate & postgraduate members of the Library.
  • Books borrowed from Circulation Section can be renewed through the Library Portal services (twice for faculty members) and (once for students) remotely.
  • The Library Online Customers’ Feedback Form has been integrated with the academic survey of postgraduate and PhD students.

Library web page and Library online public access catalog (OPAC) has now been made accessible 24/7.

Ms. Huma Sardar, Ag. Librarian and Ms. Nazia Sami, Assistant Librarian attended the event of “Plantation Activity” organized jointly by Pakistan Female Librarian Association (PFLA) and PARC-SARC, Southern Agricultural Research Council, Karachi at the University of Karachi on 23rd November 2021.

The Library contributed in the University Online Pre-Admission Entry Test (PAET) and provided its Digital Library facility for Undergraduate Admission Program, 2021 in the University. The admission tests were conducted during 6th to 12th September, 2021 as phase#I for NED admission tests and 25th September to 5th October, 2021 as phase#II for NED and other institutions admission tests. The tests were carried out in three sessions each day.
Ms. Huma Sardar, Ag. Librarian, Syed Basit Ali, Deputy Librarian, Ms. Nazia Sami, Assistant Librarian and Mr. Muhammad Sameem Kardar, Assistant Librarian visited the Aga Khan University Library on 21st September, 2021. The main purpose of this official visit was to collect the Library data related to the yearly quality objective of the Library 2k21 – SWOT analysis of Engr. Abul Kalam Library with the two benchmark libraries in the region.
The Library participated in University Carnival held on 22nd & 23rd November, 2021. A stall was allotted to the Library, where, staff was deployed to inform and guide the new entrant undergraduate. Further, a Flayer containing information about the Library resource, services and facilities was also distributed.
A training session was conducted for new comer of Master of Advanced Linguistics programme of Humanities Department. The session was conducted on 3rd December, 2021 at the Digital Library of the Library and conducted by Ms. Naveen Ali, ITM (SS) They were briefed about library resources, facilities and services.  
The Library facilitated Petroleum & Petrochemical Engineering Department of the University through processing/ assigned Classification numbers to 352 books of their Seminar Library on special request.  
A group of 89 students along-with 8 teachers of Quaid-e-Azam Rangers School   &   College,   North   Naziabad,   Karachi   visited   the   Library   on 7th December, 2021. They were briefed about the Library resources, facilities and services and visited different section of the Library.
The library facilitated the editorial committee of NEDIAN newspaper through its digital library to conduct screening test for induction of team members on 10th December, 2021.  
The Library organized its Annual Book Fair in collaboration with NCL/NCAI of the University on 13th & 14th December, 2021 at the main University Campus. The Book Fair was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail, PVC. Twenty-Six (26) Booksellers participated in the book fair. The book fair was well attended and appreciated; several useful titles were selected as a result of the tremendous event.
Ms. Naveen Ali conducted 15 training sessions at the Digital Library for final year students of various teaching departments including Civil, Mechanical, Mathematics and Humanities departments, informing them about digital resources and reference works citation managers subscribed by the university to support them in their research work.
