Mr. Rashid Ahmed and Mr.. M. Khurram Shafi, Assistant Librarians visited “Karachi International Book Fair” on 3rd January, 2022 at Karachi Expo Centre.
The Library invited faculty and students of the university for selecting books of their interests, which were freely available in the Library. Distributed of these books were taken place during 6th to 14th January, 2022. These books were donated by Mr. Ajmal Ansari, USA. A large number of books were selected by faculty members and students.
The Library handed over 292 books to the Principle, Cowasjee School for their School Library. These books were donated to Engr. Abul Kalam Library by the Books for International Goodwill BIG, USA.
The Library facilitated MOSAIC Society as referred by Department of Student Affairs for conducting its interview session on 17th January, 2022 at 2nd floor, Reading Hall No. 2. of the Library building.  

The Library facilitated through providing its Digital Library and Reading Hall to Prof. Dr. Saad Ahmed Qazi, Dean (ECE) for conducting a training session on “Technology Entrepreneurship for Kids” from December, 2021 to February, 2022 on weekend. Further, students of the Cowasjee School worked on their Science Projects by using faculty area from 14th to 19th February, 2022 for participating in science exhibition.

Dr. Fakhir Hasni, NED alumni from KSA donated approx. 1300 books and a box of various electronic components and laboratory equipment. The box has been handed over to the Instrumentation Centre of the University. Further, books have been listed with the support of the University students under community service and were shared with Chairpersons of the teaching departments for selecting books of their interests and/or relevant to their offered programmes.

A training session on Koha: open source software of the Library Management System was arranged for all librarians and IT managers. The session conducted by Dr. M. Waseem Zia, Assistant Professor, Department of Library & Information Science, University of Karachi on 22nd & 24th February, 2022.
A fruit tree plantation drive was initiated at the premises of Circulation Library building on 10th March, 2022 by Col.(R) Zafar in collaboration with Director Works & Services.

 

Group of students of NEDians College, Karachi visited the Library on 17th March, 2022 and GC University, Hyderabad visited on 28th March, 2022 for their learning purpose.The students were visited different sections of the library and briefed about the library facilities and services.

A group of trainees from Afroze Textile Mills, Karachi visited the Library for their learning purpose on 1st July, 2022.The Trainees were briefed about the Library facilities and services during the visit.

 
Training sessions Titled “Digital Resources” were conducted in Digital Library of the Library for 3rd Year Students of Automotive, Urban and Petroleum Engineering Departments. The sessions were conducted by Ms. Naveen Ali, ITM (SS) during 6th July to 20th July, 2022.
A Team of Library Officials visited to the libraries of Sindh Madrasa-tul-Islam University and Habib University on 19th and 28th July, 2022 respectively. The porpose of the visit was to get more knowledge and understanding with the “Koha - an Open Source Software of Library Management System”. These visits were the activities under the yearly quality objective of the Library for the year 2022.
Syed Basit Ali, Deputy Librarian and Mr. Muhammad Farooq Khan, Assistant Librarian attended a panel discussion on “75 Years of Pakistan: Achievements, Challenges and Way Forward” on the occasion of Independence Day of Pakistan. The event was organized by University Advancement & Financial Assistance (UAFA) and conducted at the National Incubation Centre (NIC), NED UET on 12th  August, 2022.
The Library facilitated through providing Reading Hall and Digital Library for the Summer Camp organized by U-Tech under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Saad Ahmed Qazi, Dean (ECE). The summer camp was held for school going children on weekends during the months of July – August, 2022.
The Library facilitated through providing Digital Library in conducting Pre-Admission Entry Tests of NED University, Dawood Engineering University and Haripur Hazara University. The tests were conducted during July – August, 2022, and 15th September, 2022 respectively.
Water proofing work has been completed at the administration offices of the Library.  
Renovation work of LEJ Campus Library has been completed under the UDWP of the University.
Renovation work at the ground floor of the Reference Library building was started in March 2022 for which books, shelves and other furniture and fixture was temporarily shifted to 2nd floor of the building and Reference services continued. This renovation work included demolishing of backside walls and replacing with glass, replacing of wooden partition with fully glass work, replacing existing service counter and repairing / polishing of tables/chairs and carrels. The renovation work has been completed.  

Ms. Farzeen Zehra, Ms. Maha Javed and Ms. Darakshan students of Software Engineering Batch 2019 showcased their acquired skills and dedication to their Alma Mater by giving their precious time and enhancing Engr. Abul Kalam Library Online public Access Catalog (OPAC). They developed integrated books information like Title Page Images, Summary of Books, Authors Information and Table of Contents (TOCs) from Google and Open Library with the indigenous library software; enriching the Library OPAC and making it more attractive to library users @ https://library.neduet.edu.pk/Libsearch.

The Library highly appreciated Ms. Asma, Assistant Professor, Software Engineering Department for identifying students and their Chairpersons Prof. Dr. Shehnila Zardari and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mubashir Khan for their ably support.
The Library participated in the University Carnival, organized by the Department of Students Affairs held on 14th October 2022 to promote the Library facilities and services for new comers Batch 2022-23. A library stall was setup by the library staff for the guidance of new entrant undergraduate.
A group of students from Habib Girls School Karachi visited the Library on 19th October, 2022. The students were briefed about the Library facilities and services.
 
The Library facilitated two students of the Department of Library & Information Sciences, University of Karachi for fulfillment of their assignments on Engr. Abul Kalam Library upon their request. They visited the Library on 20th October, 2022.
A Team of Library staff visited Bahria University Library Karachi on 21st October, 2022. The team included Ms. Huma Sardar, Ag. Librarian, Ms. Naveen Ali, ITM (SS), Syed Basit Ali, Deputy Librarian, Mr. M. Farooq Khan, Mr. M. Imran Khan and Mr. M. Sameem Kardar, Assistant Librarians. The purpose of the visit was to get familiarity with the Koha and RFID technology.
A group of library staff attended the awareness sessions on “Breast Cancer” and “Cognitive Diseases” organized by Medical Department on 28th & 31st October, 2022 respectively. The sessions were conducted at Mechanical Auditorium, main campus of the University.

Food Engineering Department relocated from LEJ campus to the newly constructed building at the main campus in the year 2022. In this connection, total 128 books related to Food engineering from LEJ Campus Library were segregated and transferred to new building of the department at main campus of the University in the month of October, 2022.

Under the University Geen initiative, both of the Library buildings at the main campus have been switched to solar energy through solar panels at their roofs with the capacity of 100KW. The solar energy project of the Library buildings supported by Engro Corporation completed during the month of November 2022 and up and running.

Engr. Abul Kalam Library handed over 1082 old/outdated donated books to Alamghir Welfare Trust on 3rd November, 2022 for their library. These outdated books were donated by various individuals/ organizations to the Library.  
The Library handed over 68 Cartons contained 1260 books donated by Books for International Goodwill, BIG, USA and Prof. Dr. Fakhir Hassani from KSA to Mr. Imran Ali Khokar, Librarian, the Begum Nusrat Bhutto (BNB) Women University and Aror University of Art, Architecture, Design & Heritage, Sukkar and as donation for their libraries network on 3rd November 2022 upon his request.
The Library facilitated Sindh HEC by providing its Digital Library for conducting their Entry Test on 5th & 6th November 2022.

Engr. Abul Kalam Library organized its annual Book Fair 2022 in collaboration with NCL/NCAI on 7th & 8th November, 2022. The Book Fair was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University.

Eighteen leading Book Trade Professionals (Local/Importer) set up their stalls in the Book Fair. The event covered all major subjects related to Engineering, Science, Technology, and Social Sciences along-with books on general interest. Some other stalls included stationery items, NCL / NCAI, First Response Professional Training Provider (FRIP), National Book Foundation, RWT Educational Consultant etc. Further, Anjuman-e-Taraqi Urdu and Department of Student Affairs were new entrants in this event. The book fair was well attended and appreciated; several useful titles were selected as a result of the tremendous event.

A group of 76 students from Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Benazirabad visited the Library as study tour on 24th November, 2022 with their teachers. The students were visited the different sections of the Library and briefed about the Library facilities and services.
Ms. Huma Sardar, Ag. Librarian alongwith Syed Basit Ali, Deputy Librarian, Mr. M. Farooq Khan, Mr. Ghulam Abbas Memon and Ms. Tadeeb Anwar, Assistant Librarians visited Dr. Mahmud Husain Library, University of Karachi on 29th November 2022. The purpose of the visit was to get knowledge about the Koha software as well as UN Youth Corner.
The Library facilitated the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology for conducting its Koderz Kombat competition Round 1 for final year students (25 Teams) of CSIT and SE departments. The event was held on 9th December 2022.
The Library handed over 12 Cartons contained 384 books donated by Books for International Goodwill, BIG, USA to Mr. Mumtaz Ali Burio, Librarian, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana as donation for their libraries network on 21st December, 2022 upon his request.
