The Library facilitated the NED Academy by Meezan Justuju Programme A Certified Training Programme Sponsored by Meezan Bank and providing NED Digital Library services for conducting 06 months certified training programmes initiated by Meezan Bank in partnership with the NED Academy. The two training programmes titled “Mobile Application Developer” and “Database Administrator” were started for the students in August, 2024 and completed by January, 2025. Total 120 students from low privileged areas of Karachi participated in the above courses.

Ms. Huma Sardar, Ag. Librarian, Syed Basit Ali, Deputy Librarian, Mr. M. Farooq Khan and Ms. Nazia Sami, Assistant Librarians visited the Department of Architecture and Planning at the City Campus on 4th February, 2025. The purpose of revisiting the Campus Library was to get updates on development works and discussed the matter related to City Campus Library with the Chairperson and Mr. M. Zaheer, Assistant Librarian. Later on, the discussed matter was reported to the PVC/CLC.

A delegation from Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) for PEC Accreditation of the undergraduate Petroleum Engineering Programme of the University visited the Library on 7th February, 2025. During their visit, a brief presentation containing library resources, services and facilities was delivered. The team also visited different sections of the Library and closely observed activities therein and appreciated.

The Library through its Digital Library facilitated Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) for conducting 24th Engineering Practice Examination (EPE) Fall-2024 test at NED University on 23rd February 2025. Digital Library was selected among seven other labs of the University as the Online Test Center. The test was conducted in two sessions during 0900 hrs to 1630 hrs and batch of 45 candidates were allowed to Digital Library for the test. Engr. Mukhtar Shiekh, Vice Chairman of PEC Sindh visited the Test Centre along with other PEC Officials.

In commemoration of UNESCO’s International World Book and Copyright Day, the Library shared an information pamphlet with all teaching departments; uploaded it on the Library website; and displayed a banner at the entrance of the Library for promoting reading, learning and celebrating the importance of the Day on 23rd April, 2025.

Further, Syed Basit Ali, Deputy Librarian and Mr. Muhammad Imran Khan, Assistant Librarian attended a seminar at the event of World Book and Copyright Day titled “Turning Pages, Changing Lives: A Seminar on the Power of Reading”. The event was jointly organized by Fatimiyah Higher Education System, (FHES) and National Library Association, (NLA) on the same day.

The Library following the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) related activities, placed the signs of Emergency Exit Plan and posters of prohibition of Food & Drink at various prominent locations on floors of the Library building. Further, as per described procedure, Fire Drill of the Library staff and users to train them in the manner of exit to be followed in case of fire was carried out on 28th April, 2025 at 0300 hrs.

The Library facilitated the Department of Economics and Management Sciences of the University through its Digital Library for conducting a training session on “Qualitative Data Analysis using NVIVO” for 3rd year students of BS – Economics & Finance. Around 100 students of the department attended two hour session in two batches during 0900 hrs to 0100 hrs. These sessions were conducted by Dr. Farhan Ahmed, Assistant Professor, of the same department on 29th April, 2025.

The Library handed over 13 boxes containing 751 old/outdated donated books and magazines to Alamgir Welfare Trust Int’l, Karachi on 13th May, 2025 for their library network. These old/outdated donated books & magazines were initially displayed on the Library Friend’s Corner for a long time.

A group of 60 students of class 8, 9 and 10 from Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) visited the University mainly Engr. Abul Kalam Library on 16th May, 2025 under their “Friendship with Books” campaign. The Library Officials welcomed them and visited them to various sections of the Library and briefed about library resources, services and facilities.

Ms. Sheema Haider, Director QEC, Indus University, Karachi and External Evaluator of the Self-Review of Institutional Performance and Enhancement (Self-RIPE) Committee visited to the Library alongwith Dr. Muhammad Wasif, Director QEC, Dr. Ali Zulqarnain, Assistant Professor, IMD and other Officials of the QEC on 26th May, 2025.

She was briefed about library resources, services and facilities and visited different sections of the Library where she observed different library activities. She also inquired students about their satisfaction about the Library facilities and services to them. Later on, she had a meeting with all HoDs of the University including Ag. Librarian on 27th May, 2025.

The Library contributed in the University Undergraduate Pre-Admission Entry Test, PAET-25 which was conducted online. The Library facilitated in conducting PAET-25 (Phase-I) entry tests in its Digital Library during 11th – 16th June, 2025 in two sessions in initial 4 days, four sessions on the 2nd last day and one session on the last day. Further, three IT Managers of the Library were also deployed in different teaching departments of the University for IT support.

In a warm gesture of goodwill and support, Ms. Huma Sardar, Ag. Librarian, along with the Library Officials, visited the office of the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail, on 17th June, 2025 to extend their heartfelt congratulations on his recent appointment. The Library Officials also extended a warm welcome to Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail and look forward to a vibrant new chapter under his leadership.
